Another Immigrant
She finally took the flight that day with her whole life packed in a suitcase ;
She was ready for a whole new path to trace.
Stepping in a whole new land, Breathing in the chilly wind;
Leaves were happily fallin’, autumn was setting in
Beginnings seemed so fun as she started discovering the unknown;
Making a place for her, Despite being scared she set out alone.
The days kept unfolding like a map;
Sometimes how hard life does slap!
Migrating your life to a new country can be hard;
Some experiences can forever leave you scarred.
Despite the breakdowns and struggle all along;
she kept on moving with a heart of stone
Ticking clock was reminding she was just an immigrant;
Her phone’s gallery made her realise how much she missed her homeland.
You never know what a year can do to you;
You have to focus on every moment you grow through.
Living abroad may sound cheesy;
But only the person who face it knows it’s not that easy.
A year ago, I came here in quest of my dreams;
I strongly believe the hustle will be replaced soon with all the good I still have not seen.
Smiling back at all the good or whatever worst upon me life has thrown;
In the end, I have to accept this is now my home.
Today marks a year of me living abroad, so
here’s how I wrote my heart away in a poem about what I have gone through as an immigrant.
Love and Light,
Khansa.
